Good morning online business entrepreneur. How do you start your day? The answer is probably dependent on whether you run your online business full time or part-time. Whether you are an early morning person or a late night finisher. To be successful in your online business you must design a morning routine that fit in to your lifestyle. Design a morning routine that it can become a daily habit. It must become the natural way to start your day, thereby providing you with familiarity with your routine and setting you up for success.
The Importance Of A Morning Routine
Most successful people have a morning routine. They have designed a morning routine to provide structure and familiarity to the start of each day. Their success did not come by chance. No, they understand the importance of a morning routine and practice this habit daily. They start each day with a familiar routine and enjoy the start of each new day.
The Early Riser Morning Routine
Do you get up and get going with your morning routine as soon as you wake
up? Sometimes you even wake up and get up before the alarm clock. Your set morning routine enable you to be proactive and fast track your day to success. This habit has a positive influence on your life, spirit, mind, body, health, happiness and daily productivity. It helps to make you feel alive, ready to embrace each day with great expectations and greater achievements to follow with success the only possible result.
Depending on your definition of an early rise, you may design your morning routine to commence with a coffee and quiet time followed by an hour or two of early morning work before your morning exercise, breakfast etc. when the rest of the world start to wake up.
Morning Routine for the Late Night Person
Do you postpone the start of your day with the press of the alarm clock snooze button before you finally get out of bed, then go about aimless for a while before you make your coffee to start your day? Since you are a late night person, the start of the day is most difficult for you, but as the day progress you gain momentum, productivity and speed to finish the race in style at the end of the day.
Whether you are an early riser or a late finisher, a morning routine is vitally important to provide structure to your day and set you and your business up for success.
Don’t Be Fooled By The Calendar
There is a season for everything and a time for every purpose. The sun is in place to govern our day and night with the earth’s 24 hour rotation cycle. The moon governs the night and demarcate our months. Planet Earth is tilted at a jaunty angle to provide us with seasons repeated annually. Time remains a precious and limited resource.
Please don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you are prepared to make use of. One person gets only a week’s value out of a whole year while another gets a full year’s value out of as little time as one week. To make good use of your time, you’ve got to determine what’s most important to you and then diligently apply your effort accordingly and give it all you’ve got. The choice is yours how to make the best use of your precious time.
Recommended Morning Routine?
Your morning routine is most effective if it includes time for your body, mind and spirit. Your quiet time including scripture reading and prayer focus on your Creator and stimulate your spirit. The mind can be stimulated through goal setting, reading, mental exercises and daily planning. Body time includes exercise, healthy living and breakfast. Your morning routine can be accomplished within an hour or two. Structure your daily plan to fit in with your lifestyle, then make it a good habit setting you up with a positive attitude at the start of each day that ultimately leads to success.
The following practices are recommended for inclusion in your morning and daily routines. Select a few that is appropriate to your lifestyle, goals and visions, then design your own personal morning routine.
Prayer is to the soul what food is to the body. I cannot face the day without first spending time with God. I need an intimate one-on-one time with my Heavenly Father. I invite you to occasionally take a good look at something not made with hands – The sun, stars, mountain, field, ocean, river etc. There will come to you a wisdom and above all, the assurance that there is a Creator and you are not alone in this world.
The abbreviation ACTS helps to provide structure to your prayer.
A for Adoration: Spend time to adore your Creator for who He is, give Him thanks for a new day and praise Him for the beautiful new morning that you have the privilege to partake in.
C for Confession: This is a time to repent and to ask for forgiveness of your sins. You may wish to include sins of the past, present and habitual sins like procrastination, delayed obedience and passivity to your confession list. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all our unrighteousness.
T for Thanksgiving: Thank your Creator for His undeserved love, grace and kindness that gives us the opportunity to call ourselves His children. Remember to include your family, friends, loved ones and new opportunities in life within your thanksgiving list.
S for Supplication: Pray a special prayer for your loved ones and yourself. Bring your requests before your Creator concerning your family’s well-being both for the present and the future. Pray specifically, expectantly and faithfully.
Consider a time for Scripture reading or motivational reading to be included in your morning routine.
I strive to live my life by my ten philosophies and recite them daily as part of my morning routine. Define your philosophies, memorise motivational statements and scripture verses by heart and recite them daily to get an early morning dosage of brain training.
I list my 10 philosophies below for your information. I consider them both encouraging and motivational.
- I will greet this day with love in my heart and I will succeed.
- I will persist until I succeed.
- I am able, willing and created for great achievements.
- I will live this day to the full as if it is my last.
- I am in control of my emotions.
- I will laugh at my obstacles and troubles, for they too will pass.
- Through goal setting I will increase my value x 100 today.
- I will act now. Whatever can be accomplished today I will do. I will not procrastinate.
- I will be kind to friends, neighbours and strangers and go out of my way to assist and bless them.
- I will give thanks to my Creator for giving me the ability, strength and courage to implement my philosophies.
4. Goal Setting
Setting your goals enable you to have a clear purpose. It becomes an anchor in your life that never shifts but allows you to change direction without losing sight of your purpose. Goals in writing become dreams with deadlines and the more goals you set, the more dreams will be met. The moment you set a new goal, you create a gap between where you are and where you really want to be. The goals arouse excitement, desire and passion in our heart. The urge to close the gap generates tension, energy, enthusiasm, purpose and drive. Setting an exciting goal is like setting a needle in your compass. From then on, the compass knows only one direction – it’s ideal. It will faithfully guide you there through the darkest nights and fiercest storms. Setting goals will help you to use your time both efficiently and effectively.
Imagination is the preview of life’s forthcoming attractions. All man made items that is reality today was once but a dream.
The power of visualisation turns dreams into reality. Successful people think ahead and create their visual picture. Then they go to work materialising the vision in all its detail. Filling in here a bit, add a little more there, altering this and that a bit more. Steadily continue building until their vision that once appeared to be castles in the air have now received foundations under them and is converted to reality.
Every great work, every big accomplishment has been brought into manifestation through persistently holding on to a vision.
A smile first thing in the morning is a great way to condition your mind to
be grateful and happy for another day of life. Lighten up, smile, laugh more and simply enjoy life. You will never know the good that a simple smile can do. Your smile alone is enough to make life more beautiful. It costs nothing but gives much and it enriches those who receive it. Always smile when you can. I recommend that you start every day with a smile and keep on smiling because a peaceful smile will always see the world smiling back.
7. Drink Water
Water is an essential ingredient to your health. Because body dehydration
naturally occurs through breathing, sweating and digestion, it is important to re hydrate by drinking fluids and eating food that contains water. Water not only quench your thirst. Your body uses water in all its cells, organs and tissue to help regulate its temperature and maintain bodily functions. Water provides optimum levels of moisture for your eyes, nose, mouth, blood, bones and brain. In addition, water helps to protect the spinal cord and acts as a lubricant and cushion for your joints. Your digestive system is dependent on water in the form of saliva. Adequate water intake enables your body to excrete waste through perspiration, urination and defecation. The kidneys, liver and intestines use water to help flush out waste.
Endeavour to drink two litres of water per day to provide your body with an adequate water intake.
Check your body’s water level regularly. If your urine is clear, you are generally in good shape but if it is dark you’re probably dehydrated and need a top up with an extra glass of water.
Muscles and joints synchronise to create movement. Your temperature rise, your heart accelerate, you burn calories, your body release chemicals and your brain release feel-good hormones. A short morning exercise routine goes a long way to provide your body with optimum health. The health benefits of exercise includes fitness, energy, weight control, better control of your blood sugar and insulin levels, improved mental health and mood, mental alertness, strengthened bones and muscles, improved sleep, improved sexual health, increased chances of longer living, reduced risk of cancer, reduced risk of heart disease and many more.
Get Up And Get Moving. Create an exercise routine in the morning to revitalise your body. Warm up, Stretch, Walk, Run, Skip, Dance, Jump, Cycle, Climb Stairs, Push-ups, Plank, Pull-ups, Sit-ups, Knife curls, Squads, Lunges, Resistance Training, Punches, Blocks, Kicks, Star jumps, Weights, etc. Pick a few suitable for your condition and plan your ‘good morning exercise routine.’ Make your exercise a fun time. Start slowly and build up your program as your health and fitness levels improve. Target to reach a minimum duration of 30 minutes per day for at least four to five days per week.
If you are a serious fitness person, you can always increase your morning training time or incorporate your standard training program later in the day in accordance with your schedule, but add the habit to perform some physical exercise early in the morning.
I love to finish with the following exercise. ‘Lie flat on my stomach, get up to a standing position and do a star jump. Lie flat on my back. Get up to a standing position and do a star jump.’ That is one rep. Now try to build up to at least 10 reps or more. Don’t forget to laugh at yourself while performing this one because it can become very amusing. It reminds me of the fact that life will sometime knock you down but the important thing is that you must get up just once more than being knocked down to live another day and be successful. Since this exercise can take your breath away, please remember to take a few deep breaths on completion to restore your natural breathing pattern.
Have fun with your exercise routine and introduce some variance to prevent monotony.
Prepare a healthy breakfast. This is usually a time when you can also reward yourself with that first cup of coffee in the morning.
Be grateful for life. Be thankful for what you have and focus on the positive. Write down three things that you are grateful about every morning.
Gratitude takes three forms: A feeling in the heart, an expression in words and giving in return. Send a message of gratitude or encouragement daily to someone. The expression of gratitude and encouragement are powerful communication tools available to us. Take a moment and think about one person who helped your life to be better, then proceed and send a message of gratitude.
Some people are so down that they cannot even smile anymore. Think of a person who need some encouragement and be the person who make a difference to others. Contribute to the lives of others and be a blessing. Do one small thing every day to contribute to someone else’s life. This is a great way to experience a deeper sense of meaning, a sense of purpose and fulfilment in your own life.
Write an encouraging note, send a text message or make a phone call to help someone else and simply be that friend who is a blessing to others in need. Make a positive difference to someone else today. Wherever you go and whomever you meet, look for opportunities to help, to inspire and to provide support.
‘I care’ is a two word recipe for excellence, success and fulfilment.
Miracles happen… Especially to those who have the courage to love – every day. Love is the greatest blessing and miracle of all. Without love all revert to nothing and you gain nothing at all.
“Love is long-suffering and kind. Love does not envy, is not proud, does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”
Make some time for love in your life. Love heals. Unconditional love is the most powerful stimulant of the immune system.
Start your morning by acknowledging your success of yesterday. Include every action taken toward the achievement of your goals. Give yourself credit for your accomplishments. Every effort you make towards your personal growth and development deserves to be celebrated. The more you reward yourself, the more successful you will be.
